An accountant, a poet, and a writer, my life has been a tapestry of diverse experiences.
Born in Fort Madigan and raised in Yakima, Washington, I’ve also called Oakland, CA, Long Beach, CA, and Little Rock, Arkansas, home. My journey has taken me across the seas as a sailor, visiting Manila, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Kenya, Oman, Diego Garcia, and Hawaii.
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I used to write poems to my friend while I was in the Navy. He told me he saved my poems and wanted to publish them. I began my first book while attending a poetry class at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. One of the assignments was to write a short story, so I wrote the first three chapters of “Searching for the Light.” When I turned in the assignment, I received good reviews from other students. The teacher suggested that I finish my story and get it published.
